NO STOMACH FOR FULL-PRICE GOODS
The holiday shopping season, which traditionally starts the
day after the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, can make up as much as
40 percent of a retailer's annual revenue.
"If August continues as June and July did,Apple's iPhone replaces BlackBerry for some banker, I think that
could bode well for a solid (year-end) holiday. I'm not saying
that we're going to have a blow-out holiday, but a solid
holiday," said Madison Riley, managing director of retail
consulting firm Kurt Salmon.

Under the agreement, authors and publishers would register works and be paid for books and other publications the search giant puts online. The settlement covered books that were out of print but still under copyright.
Since the settlement, Google launched in December an electronic bookstore with three million books, with permission from the relevant publishers.
In other words, the new gadgets and “upgrades” typically pushed on consumers today aren’t substantial enough innovations to warrant the name. Consumers want substance—game changers, not marginal adjustments.

Starz asked Netflix to take the Sony movies down temporarily while it works out a new deal, one of the sources said.
The current deal between Starz and Netflix was reached in October 2008 and expires in the first quarter of 2012.
